What’s in a name?

Book about boy in heaven discredited by its own supposed author

I hate to draw attention to this very sad story, but seriously, how could anyone buy a book like this by an author named “Malarkey”? No really, think about it. God knew that this was all going to happen, and saw to it that the family name was “Malarkey”. Yes it is sad, yes it is tragic, yes it brings discredit to our confession, but it wasn’t like we didn’t have any clues or tipoffs right?

Seems to me that the publishers were seeing dollar signs and didn’t do their homework. Let that be a lesson to all of us.

Don’t hold your breath on gay marriage at the Supreme Court

Supreme Court will Rule on Gay Marriage in USA

Those of you who, like myself, oppose the legal recognition of gay marriage, might be tempted to get your hopes up. After all the Supreme Court currently holds a supposed 5-4 “Conservative” majority. But before you get excited, recognize the following:

1. Anthony Kennedy is no conservative. He can be counted on to uphold gay marriage.
2. John Roberts is a fake conservative plant who has proven that he can be manipulated. If Kennedy falters, he will cover.
3. Justices Ginsberg (you know, the one who looks like “granny” on the Beverly Hillbillies), Sotomayor, Kagan, and Breyer will obviously vote in favor of gay marriage.
4. Justices Thomas, Scalia and Alito can be counted on to oppose gay marriage.
5. Roberts may vote against gay marriage as cover for his fake conservatism as long as Kennedy favors gay marriage. But rest assured, if Kennedy opposes it, Roberts will jump in with Breyer and company.
6. Nobody is going to want to be the guy who tells the gays that have already married that it doesn’t count.
7. If gay marriage gets upheld by the court, it will be the law of the land. Then watch how quickly it becomes a felony to speak against homosexuality. Then watch some Christian Pastors getting thrown in jail while other squishy manpleasers “toe the line”.

So my prediction is 5-4 in favor of gay marriage with either Roberts or Kennedy putting it over the top. Yes I realize my predictions are pretty obvious. I just didn’t want anyone to get their hopes up in vain. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, er, Denny?

Duke University Adopts the Religion of the Beast

Article about Duke University and their Muslim call to prayer

I’m so happy I didn’t send my son here. Of course he did go to Princeton and had Al “Jazeera” Gore as the one of the commencement speakers. Honestly, whatever. But I will bet any amount of money that not a single atheist will complain or raise even the faintest objection about this. Imagine the outrage from the atheists if Duke took a similar step toward promoting the practice of Christianity among its students! There is a reason for this. All of these people: atheists, Muslims, progressives (communists), LGBT, etc. are all worshippers of the Beast and are all marching in lockstep toward the same goal. It doesn’t matter that their supposed ideologies are in conflict. The ideologies are just a smokescreen. The real reality is enslavement to and worship of the Beast. That is the prevailing reality, logical contradictions notwithstanding.

When will the temple be rebuilt?

Indications from 2Thessalonians 2:1-4 are that Jesus will not return until the antichrist (i.e. “man of sin”) is revealed and takes his seat in the temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

Presently that really cannot happen in any literal sense, since there is no temple. However there is definitely interest that is building on the part of Jewish Israelis to erect a temple on the original site of Solomon’s and Ezra’s (i.e. Herod’s) temples. That site is now occupied by the Al Aqsa mosque. Apparently when Jerusalem was recaptured in 1967 by Israel, there was some sort of “deal” made whereby non-Muslims can visit the site, but cannot pray there. Increasingly, Israel is chafing against this “deal” and is desirous of erecting a temple, perhaps on this site.

Thy kingdom come!

We may have given up the fight, but they haven’t

Christians long ago gave up the fight against abortion. But Planned Parenthood hasn’t given up their encouragement and sponsorship of the murder of babies in the womb and the destruction of Biblical values regarding human sexuality. Here’s Planned Parenthood’s 2014 Annual Report recording that they killed another 330,000 babies last year. Just as a reference point, only an average of 110,000 soldiers were killed each year during our own bloody Civil War. Planned Parenthood does triple that number EVERY YEAR. And keep in mind that Planned Parenthood is responsible only for about a third or less of all the abortions that take place every year.

Just in case we, like Pontius Pilate before us, seek to wash our hands of this and blame the Democrats (whom some of our own number, I’m ashamed to say, even vote for), it is OUR TAXES that provide 41% of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue. So way to go, team! Keep paying those taxes and keep voting for Democrats and spineless fake Republicans. In case you’re wondering where the rest of Planned Parenthood’s baby-killing money comes from, here’s an article showing that the New York State Teacher’s union (which takes its money off the top from the salaries of public school educators which we also pay for) likes to write big checks to them.

I wonder when America’s cup of iniquity will be full and we will be made to drink the cup of God’s divine wrath — and it will affect ALL of us. With 56,400,000 abortions since Roe v. Wade to our credit, it ain’t gonna be pretty.

The sad thing is that the significant majority of Americans now OPPOSE abortion. Yet we still stopped fighting. What a bunch of cowardly sissies we are — just sayin’.

Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues”

New creations or not?

Preachers quote Isaiah 64:6,

“We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.”

For the person who has not yet been born again through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, these words are absolutely true and applicable, just as they were for the people of Israel to whom Isaiah was prophesying. As Romans 8:8 declares, “Those who are in the flesh cannot please God”.

However, I have on occasion heard these same words applied not only to the unregenerate, but also to the Christian, as though God was STILL DISGUSTED with our works even after salvation. I believe this to be at best bad theology, and at worst an insult to the finished work of Christ on the Cross. As Paul continues in Romans 8:9 (speaking to Christians), “You however, are NOT in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him.”

The New Testament clearly states that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW CREATION. The old has passed away, behold the new has come.” 2Corinthians 5:17. It also states in Ephesians 2:10 that “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” In 2Timothy 2:21, Paul says “if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.” Revelation 19:8 says “the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints”. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

I don’t know why someone would say otherwise. I suppose it could be an attempt at false humility. But what it does, perhaps unintentionally, is to diminish the work and saving power of Christ on the Cross. If there is no difference between a Christian and a non-Christian except for his ultimate destination (heaven or hell), then Christ’s death and resurrection is of no effect whatsoever in this life, and we might as well go back under the Law because that will be the best and only way to curb the power of our continuing unbridled wickedness. This of course is UTTERLY CONTRARY to the teaching of the New Testament.

If I think that my attempts at doing good as a believer are considered filthy rags by God, then it stands to reason that I wouldn’t bother making any such attempts at doing good lest I offend the Lord with an offering of filthy rags. Such a teaching would be likely to lead to the sad result that James addresses in chapter 2 of his epistle, where Christians were doing NOTHING and yet were confident of their salvation “by faith”. As James points out, this thinking is total error. God saved us for a reason — so that we could BEAR FRUIT for Him (Romans 7:4, John 15:16).

Ephesians 5:10 encourages us to “try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord”. If all our righteous deeds are STILL filthy rags even after we are born again, then NOTHING pleases the Lord and this would be a fools errand.

Satan is the father of lies. It would seem to me that he would WANT blood-bought Christians to languish under a false teaching that there is nothing they can do in their physical bodies that is pleasing to the Lord. Thus he would keep them from glorifying God by bearing fruit and from accumulating the treasures in heaven that He longs to lavish upon His children.

Yes we WERE wretches — B.C. Yes we WERE the walking dead — B.C. As Paul says in 1Corinthians 6:11 “Such WERE some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God”. The Cross changes EVERYTHING!

Of course as believers in Christ we are still CAPABLE of sinning and displeasing the Lord, and will likely continue to do so (hopefully less and less) as we go through His process of sanctification and are conformed into the image of His Son and transformed by the renewing of our minds from one degree of glory to another. And there is always forgiveness available to us as we remain by faith in His grace. But make no mistake, SIN is not plan A for the Christian and 1Corinthians 10:13 promises that God will provide the way of escape from every temptation, if we will but take it. The apostle John writes in 1John 2:1 “Little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin, but if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”

Let us never buy into any lie that says Jesus’ death and resurrection is insufficient to make us and our Spirit-led deeds acceptable to God. Let us never consent willingly to live beneath the standard of priestly holiness that the Lord Jesus Christ has purchased for us and bestowed upon us. Let us never make so-called scriptural excuses for our sin, but rather run to Him in repentance and receive His forgiveness. Let us remember, as Psalm 11:7 says, “The Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold His face.”

Like People, Like Priest

This morning, I was reading the book of Hosea, and couldn’t help seeing the similarities between the condition in Israel then, and the condition in our country now.  In chapter 4, we read:

“LISTEN to the word of the LORD, O sons of Israel, For the LORD has a case against the inhabitants of the land, Because there is no faithfulness or kindness Or knowledge of God in the land.  There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing and adultery.  They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed.  Therefore the land mourns, and everyone who lives in it languishes…Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being my priest… And it will be, like people, like priest; So I will punish them for their ways, and repay them for their deeds.  They will eat, but not have enough; they will play the harlot, but not increase, because they have stopped giving heed to the LORD.”

This week has seen great unrest across our community and in greater part our nation, and there is much speculation as to the actions to take in order to calm the unrest.  Unfortunately, the voices speaking the truth are often silenced, because of the unwillingness of the people to accept the knowledge of God.   We in the American church must ALL cling to the knowledge of God and speak the truth in love to people, for the gospel is the only solution to the unrest and dissatisfaction of the people.  The people of the country will never have enough of anything without Christ, without acknowledging the Almighty God, and the gift of His Son.  Churches across this nation are struggling to survive, not because they are too offensive to the community, but because they are offense to God by forsaking to preach the truth of sin and repentance.  We have stopped preaching the whole truth, and softened the message of Christ to the point where God is snuffing out our lampstands, and like the time of Hosea, rejecting us from being his priests!

Throughout the Bible, God teaches us that there is a purpose to his correction.  Hosea’s message is to “RETURN to the LORD,” so that He may turn his anger away from them.  The message to us is no different, that we must RETURN to Him.  As believers in Christ, we are priests who must pray for our communities and our nation, and speak the words of the Good News to them.   We must share the message especially during this Christmas season that Christ humbled Himself, while we were yet sinners, suffered and died for us, to take our place in death.  After he completed his work, then was He glorified.  His gift of forgiveness is freely given to all who accept it, but He calls us to repent of our sin, and live for Him.  Let us do that daily, so that we can continue to serve as his church.  The message of God’s love, forgiveness, and restoration must be in the forefront of our lives.  We must not allow it to be obscured by any other conversations or priorities, or we will fail in our obedience to His calling.  Let us all remember this every hour of every day, and may His light shine through us.

Decency defeated again

Shenendehowa’s Board of Education passed a policy last night granting biological males who “identify” as females access to girls bathrooms and locker room facilities. There were 25 people who got up to speak during the public comments (myself included, see news clips below). 20 were in opposition, 5 in support. I was sure the board would reconsider the policy. Instead they stalled and waited till almost 11pm to hold the vote (so most of the 100+ people and the news media who turned out in opposition to the policy would go home before they voted). Then they passed the measure 4-2. The reasoning they gave was that they were afraid someone would sue them even though the law is on the side of separate bathroom facilities. I stood up a second time and accused them of making a cowardly decision. I’m not expecting a Christmas card this year from the superintendent.

I wound up on the local news on all three networks:

CBS 6

ABC 10

NBC 13

You’ll be relieved to hear that I stopped short of breaking into Shania Twain’s “I Feel Like A Woman” during my comments in spite of immense comedic pressure to the contrary.

The one “transgender” student who was the vehicle for this entire policy that affects tens of thousands of students was offered a private bathroom by the school but rejected it in favor of creating controversy.

I don’t believe the strings here are being pulled locally. This is an agenda from higher up the food chain. The whole thing was shrouded in secrecy for eight months (during which time two board members, Rick Mincher and Mary Wiggins, abruptly and puzzlingly resigned with no explanation). The only reason there was any public meeting at all was because at the last meeting word was leaked that they were voting on this.

How do you fathers feel about a policy, now in effect, that allows a dude to share a bathroom, locker room and shower facilities with your daughter?

“Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot -… so it will be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed” — Luke 17:28, 30

“Now when you see these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads because your redemption is drawing near.” — Luke 21:28

Getting ready for Revelation 13?

Revelation 13 describes two beasts, the first of which could be understood to be the “antichrist” and the second who could be understood to be the “false prophet” of Revelation 16:13. Could the two horns of the lamb that speaks like a dragon in Revelation 13:11 represent the church of Rome and the eastern orthodox church hierarchies?

In this article, you can see the representatives of the church of Rome aligning themselves with the eastern orthodox church to seek “mutual respect” with Islam. Pope Francis also visited a mosque and prayed facing Mecca. He said that he prayed most of all for “peace”. As the apostle Paul wrote in 1Thessalonians 5:3, While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Be on the lookout for a worldwide military leader to arise out of Islam to complete the “unholy trinity” of the Dragon (Satan), the Beast (the Antichrist) and the False Prophet (lamb who speaks like a dragon).

How does the dragon speak? He is subtle, clever and deceptive.

Interesting rumblings…

Joseph and Daniel

Those familiar with the characters of the Bible are certainly familiar with the lives of Joseph and Daniel.  We have much to learn from these great men, who accomplished more in a their youth than most of us will in our entire lives.  Joseph was the favored son of Jacob (aka Israel), who was sold into slavery by his brothers, and ended up ruling Egypt during a time of world famine.  Daniel was taken as a young man to serve Babylon under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, and ended up ruling over Babylon (and continued to serve the kingdoms of Darius the Mede, and Cyrus the Persian).

The parallels between these two men are stunning, even though their lives were separated by 1300 years.  Both Joseph and Daniel were taken against their will away from their families, in order to serve people and governments that did not even acknowledge the God of the Bible.  Yet even in their dire circumstances, there is no evidence that either complained about their situations.  Instead, they served their God by serving the ones who were put over them.  Their faithful service was both recognized and rewarded.   Although they did not always have the favor of men and leadership, their lives were marked by the success that they had while serving with great effort and humility.  Joseph served admirably in the house of Potiphar, so that his master had nothing to do but decide on his next meal.  Joseph was later was given all the power of Pharaoh.  Daniel was given 3 years to learn the language of his captors, and was quickly granted leadership over the wisest of the realm.  We should respond in the same way when we are given opportunities to serve those in leadership.  No matter what the beliefs of our bosses, our government, or our pastors, we are called to serve them as unto God with all of our body, soul, mind, and strength.  God is a God of order, and requires us to serve where we stand.  Instead of spending all of our time complaining about circumstances of work, country, family, and church, we should rather exhaust our efforts serving with the talents and abilities God has given us.  After all, if Joseph could prove reliable to serve even the master of a dungeon, are our circumstances really worse, providing us with an excuse to not serve them with greater honor?

These men also were granted very similar gifts.  They were both extremely wise, and were given the abilities to interpret dreams, and the opportunity to use this ability since God gave visions of the future to both Pharaoh and to Nebuchadnezzar.  While we are all not likely to be among those who have been given this particular ability, we must recognize that God gives us all gifts to serve at work, and at our churches.  We must not take these for granted, but must use them when we are provided the opportunity.  For some of us, this means praying that we would see the gifts God has given to us, and actively searching for opportunities to use them.

There are also differences between Joseph and Daniel.  Whereas Joseph was a man who was alone in Egypt, Daniel had the benefit of the company of Hananiah Mishael and Azariah (aka Shadrak Mishak, and Abednego).  Despite these differing surroundings, God gave each of them grace to withstand the temptations of their unique situations.  Tests are recorded for each of them: Joseph withstood the seduction of his master’s wife, Daniel’s three friends refused to bow to the idol and made it through the firery furnace, and Daniel himself later survived the lion’s den after continuing to pray even though it was against the law of the land.  Whether alone at work, or having the benefit of the company of other believers, we must spend time in the word and prayer, so that we may be able to maintain our testimony while living in the world that rejects it.

Lest you think that I am preaching to you alone, the message of these two men is just as much a challenge for me as you.  I have squandered many hours of my life ignoring those who should be my friends, not exercising the gifts He has given, and complaining and rebelling against those over me.  For these times I only ask forgiveness of both God and man, and hope and pray that when the opportunity again presents itself, I would be like Joseph and Daniel, and not like my flesh.
