The persecution of Christian believers both at home and abroad

The Pope, the President and a Gay Blogger walk into a bar…

Remember the “beer summit” at the White House? You know, that staged photo-op sham in which President Obama was going to singlehandedly resolve all racial tensions — I guess things only went downhill from there as he and his wife have continued to constantly pour kerosene on the flames of racial division while Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ran around with torches.

Well don’t look now, but we’ve got a new summit coming:

Upcoming White House summit

The cast of characters here sounds a lot like the opening to a bad joke. Will the Pope plead with the young man to repent? Or will the three men hug it out and usher in a new era of understanding and acceptance, while decrying the evil of “intolerance” and “bigotry” perpetrated by Bible-believing Christians who “cling to their guns and their religion”? Stay tuned for the punch line!

O God, do not keep silence

Psalm 83 describes a prayer from Asaph to God, pleading that He tarry no longer. A prayer that He would speak up, defending Israel, since she was surrounded by her enemies, who were seeking her destruction.  The prayer remains applicable today, because Israel is still surrounded by her enemies, who breathe threats continually against the nation, and therefore against the Lord Almighty.  But this needs to be our prayer as well, as we followers of Christ are grafted into the tree of God, and therefore are part of His family, and represent His name in the present world.  From the mild opposition in the USA where the government is branding as haters those who support God’s law, to the Islamic world, where people are beheaded for claiming the name of Jesus, we are surrounded by those in power who seek to destroy the kingdom of God!  It is in this context that I repeat aloud the words of Asaph:

Fill their faces with shame,
that they may seek your name, O Lord.
Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever;
    let them perish in disgrace,
that they may know that you alone,
    whose name is the Lord,
are the Most High over all the earth.

We who have read to the end of the book know that this His ultimate plan.  We pray that the Lord may speak sooner, and may stay His final wrath, so that many more may turn to Him in the time between, in this time of the gentiles.  Oh Lord, may you grant us more time to be your instruments, by staving off the growing army against your children.  Push back the armies of the evil one today!

Amen.

Christians to blame for slavery and Jim Crow?

Obama’s comments at a prayer breakfast

So President Obama is blaming slavery and Jim Crow laws on Christians? Horse hockey! The people behind BOTH slavery and Jim Crow laws were DEMOCRAT VOTERS!!! The KKK consisted of DEMOCRATS! Look it up! The REAL Christians were the abolitionists!!!

This is not mere ignorance. This is presidential prevarication of the lowest order. Yet the bots will carry these falsehoods near and far like good little soldiers of the prince of the power of the air.

Don’t hold your breath on gay marriage at the Supreme Court

Supreme Court will Rule on Gay Marriage in USA

Those of you who, like myself, oppose the legal recognition of gay marriage, might be tempted to get your hopes up. After all the Supreme Court currently holds a supposed 5-4 “Conservative” majority. But before you get excited, recognize the following:

1. Anthony Kennedy is no conservative. He can be counted on to uphold gay marriage.
2. John Roberts is a fake conservative plant who has proven that he can be manipulated. If Kennedy falters, he will cover.
3. Justices Ginsberg (you know, the one who looks like “granny” on the Beverly Hillbillies), Sotomayor, Kagan, and Breyer will obviously vote in favor of gay marriage.
4. Justices Thomas, Scalia and Alito can be counted on to oppose gay marriage.
5. Roberts may vote against gay marriage as cover for his fake conservatism as long as Kennedy favors gay marriage. But rest assured, if Kennedy opposes it, Roberts will jump in with Breyer and company.
6. Nobody is going to want to be the guy who tells the gays that have already married that it doesn’t count.
7. If gay marriage gets upheld by the court, it will be the law of the land. Then watch how quickly it becomes a felony to speak against homosexuality. Then watch some Christian Pastors getting thrown in jail while other squishy manpleasers “toe the line”.

So my prediction is 5-4 in favor of gay marriage with either Roberts or Kennedy putting it over the top. Yes I realize my predictions are pretty obvious. I just didn’t want anyone to get their hopes up in vain. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, er, Denny?

The spirit of Haman (antichrist) is alive and well

Abbas is calling for a Day of Rage in Jerusalem in response to Israel opening the site of the temple mount up for Friday prayers. Currently there is an Islamic mosque erected on the site. This to me is reminiscent of Esther 3:13.

Perhaps another indicator that the antichrist (Revelation 13:2) will hail from the ranks of Islam. Perhaps the false prophet, described interestingly as a “lamb” (Revelation 13:11), will hail from Rome and will unite the false church with Islam, creating a one-world religion and a one-world government.

Implantable technology — the antichrist will love it

Here’s an article highlighting some “implantable technology” that is coming down the pike really soon. Check out #9! That little bad boy goes either in the hand between the thumb and forefinger, or in the forehead right above the hairline, just like the Bible describes!

As for me an my house, we will serve the Lord. Don’t plan on sticking any of that stuff in this old bird.

Revelation 13:16-7 “And he (the antichrist) causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.”

Don’t be deceived. The antichrist will come with a powerful deception which will be very effective on people who don’t love the truth. How many of Satan’s lies have we bought into already? If we fell for communism and evolution, we’ll be ALL IN when he comes around with the mark of the beast. Christian if you accept the mark, it is GAME OVER! (see Revelation 14:9-10).

The Pope’s Big Tent

Here’s an article describing an attempt by members of the Catholic hierarchy to soften the Roman church’s stance on homosexual unions

I understand and respect their desire to acknowledge the underlying humanity of people who practice homosexuality (after all, gay people are no worse sinners than the rest of us).

The fundamental problem here is that you can’t have it both ways. No matter how much you “soften your language”, you are either going to run afoul of the Scripture or you are going to run afoul of the homosexual community, which doesn’t like to hear that their chosen lifestyle is condemned by it. There is no middle ground here.

People who engage in homosexual behavior are, like other sinners, deeply loved by God their creator. And without prejudice, Jesus our savior welcomes them to repent (turn away from everything the Bible calls sin) and to believe the Gospel (that Jesus paid the penalty for our sin and rose from the dead to make an opening for us into God’s kingdom).

Instead of dancing around the truth, why don’t the Catholics tell it like it is? I think I know the answer. Just like the NFL, they don’t want to appear to be “out of step” with the tide of moral relativism that has consumed our culture. I think the Pope likes the adulation of the masses, and the masses seem to have been swayed toward the acceptance of homosexuality as normative instead of perverse.

All other things being equal, I prefer never to offend anyone (including homosexuals), and I prefer not to be ostracized by anyone. But I must be first and foremost acceptable to God. And Jesus promised that in our quest to please God we would certainly, at times, offend people and be persecuted/ridiculed/ostracized by them. Just like there was no way of Jesus avoiding His cup of suffering, there is no way for us to avoid sharing in His sufferings if we want to share His glory.

Crossroads of suffering

Pastor Matt Eachus started this week in 1 Peter 4, Bible study last night was Romans 8, and my reading this morning covered Acts 4. Why do believers suffer? As a privilege to share in both worldly suffering and then in proportion, in His glory in eternity. What should be our response? Pray for strength, then walk in the Spirit, and be filled with joy about the eventual outcome. I think I finally understand James 1:9-11, and our positions as wealthy Americans.
